The Animals and the Life Boat

Dear journal,
I haven't been on the lifeboat very long but I'm scared and miss my family dearly. I don't think I'll last long on this boat at all. I don't know where Richard Parker was my guess was on the floor of the lifeboat beneath the tarpaulin facing the zebra which I'm sure he has killed by now. I got closer to the tarpaulin and looked over it and i saw that the zebra was still alive. It was laying near where it had fallen but its stomach was still panting and its eyes were still moving quickly very panic like. It had only badly broken its back leg. I was shocked Richard Parker had not yet killed the zebra. Then I realized why he didn't kill the zebra yet. There was one more person left on the boat that gave me the willies. It was a spotted hyena, there wasn't room for both the hyena and a tiger in such a small space. He must have fallen off the tarpaulin and drowned. I realized something else: the hyena was the reason those sailors had thrown me into the lifeboat. They weren't trying to save my life. They were hoping that the hyena would attack me and that somehow I would get rid of it and make the boat safe for them.

Orange Juice

Dear journal,
I thought I was going crazy for a moment, I saw a familiar face it was Orange Juice. Orange Juice was a Bomeo Orang-utan Matriarch. She was floating on bananas and then stepped into the boat. I took the net attached to the bananas thinking it could be very useful. All morning the hyena ran in circles. Everything about night scared me. Sometime during the night the hyena began growling and the zebra barked and I heard a knocking sound. I refused to sleep, it was way too dangerous. The next day the zebra's broken leg was missing. The hyena had bitten it off and dragged it to the stern. The zebra was still alive though. I hated the hyena for this but there was nothing I could do. I don't know where Orange Juice went. When Orange Juice did come into sight I finally had a good laugh. She looked so sea sick! It was great! This made me the happiest I've been in a long time but that didn't last long of coarse, the hyena got up from where it was laying put its front legs on the zebras side grabbed skin and started pulling. The zebra was being eaten alive from the inside. It was awful. The hyena spent a good part of the night eating it.

Orange Juice's Death

Dear journal,
I couldn't believe the next day the zebra was still alive. It had a giant hole in its body and half-eaten organs. Orange Juice was not in a good mood today she was showing her teeth a lot. I just stayed where I was I had a bad feeling about today. The zebra was dead by noon and violence happened in the afternoon. The hyena and Orange Juice were growling and making faces at each other. I had huge doubt in Orange Juice and her fighting abilities but I underestimated her big time. She hit the hyena hard on the head. I rooted her on the whole time and  I loved when she did this. No matter how much I wanted Orange Juice to win I knew she couldn't defeat an adult male spotted hyena. Shes never faced a hyena, she eats fruit and not meat. I knew if I didn't get rid of the hyena I would be next. Orange Juice lay next to the dead zebra be headed. It was really depressing and I didn't want to be the next to go even though I don't think I can defeat the hyena. I looked down under the bench and between my feet was Richard Parker's head. He startled me and he was gigantic. I finally found his hiding place.

The Chest

Dear journal,
I'm no longer afraid of the hyena the only reason I won't hurt him is because I'm far to weak. It now made sense why it waited so long before killing the zebra, it was afraid of Richard Parker. I don't blame him either. Richard Parker being on the boat is probably the only thing keeping me from being hyena chow, but what's keeping Richard Parker so inactive? He must be sedated still. I went and explored the boat knowing there must be supplies on it. I was extremely thirsty and needed water desperately. I found a chest near Richard Parker, I was terrified but I opened it and it had a ton of useful things that would help me since I don't know how long I'll be on this boat for. I ate a bit of the chocolate bar and checked out the rain catcher. I then slept. The next day Richard Parker growled at me so I realized the best thing for me was to stay far away. I did this by building a raft. As I was building the raft trouble occurred. The hyena screamed very loud and I saw a terrible image. Richard Parker killed the hyena without even making a noise. The wind pipe was crunching and the spinal cord snapped in half. The next thing I know a rat came and crawled onto my head. He followed the rat, he was less than 10 feet away. I was about to die so I threw the rat his way and he ate it. What an exciting and scary day! Well time to sleep!

Just a Fishin'

Dear journal,
Richard Parker has not yet proved himself to be a threat yet but I needed a plan to keep him away or get rid of him some how. I came up with seven plans. Plan one- push him off the life boat. Plan two- kill him with the six morphine. Plan three- attack him with all available weaponry. Plan five- poison him, set him on fire, electrocute him. Plan six- wage a war of attrition. I didn't think any of these plans would work but my favorite plan was the seventh plan and that was to keep him alive. It was insane but it may just work. I spent my time reading the survivor guide. I was hungry, thirsty and needed to improve my shelter. It took me a very long time to improve my raft because I constantly had to watch Richard Parker. After I was done I grabbed water a can opener four biscuits and four blankets then slept. I woke up and it was a very nice day so I tried to fish for the first time in my life. I used my shoe as bait. I wasn't having much luck but then flying fish jumped into the life boat then I used the flying fish as bait which worked so much better. After I used the flying fish I caught a dorado and gave it to Richard Parker. He enjoyed it very much.
